We humans are responsible for over 18 trillion pounds of plastic since the 1950’s. The Great Pacific Garbage Patch is the largest of five such trash collections in the ocean…

But Recycled Park in Rotterdam is doing something about it…

Here is a recent feature I reported on Seattle’s Morning News on a new “litter trap” that collects the plastic in the river before it makes its way to the ocean. They use the collected plastic they trap in the contraption to make hexagonal squares from the plastic for a floating park.

Community comes together for the children one year after the death of Charleena Lyles

My interview with Dee Hillis from Solid Ground and Lhorna Murray who is a resident at Solid Ground, a mother and an artist. Lhorna was key in helping the community focus on the children who hadn’t dealt with the trauma of Charleena Lyles’ death. Working with Art with Heart they were able to get out some of the anger, pain and fear through art therapy…
